Freaky Friday Updates…

April 27th, 2012 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Well, perhaps not “freaky” but it’s definitely Friday! A few quick updates for all of my fabulously vampy friends out there. First off a new interview with yours truly is live today! Thank you to Lincoln Crisler for the interview! http://lincolncrisler.info/?p=1051.

In addition, if you missed my interview with KJ McCormick of “Ghost Hunters” on the 16th, I have managed to find the archived podcast! I had such a blast on ParaFusion Radion talking to KJ and hope to have the opportunity to do so again. You can check out the podcast here: http://blogtalk.vo.llnwd.net/o23/show/3/139/show_3139723.mp3.

I was invited yesterday by the coordinators of the Midsummer Nightmare film festival in New Orleans to be their Guest Author. It is a great honor and a deep pleasure to return to New Orleans and participate this July. I will have more details soon but for now you can learn more about the festival here: http://www.vampirefilmfestival.com/vampire/node/125

Last, but certainly not least, a reminder about tonight’s book signing & discussion from 7 to 9pm at the San Pedro Crossing Barnes & Noble in San Antonio, TX. I will be speaking about my writing, along with three other authors, as well as signing copies of REVENGE. It should be a marvelous time so please spread the word and bring all of your friends!

The Tomb of Dark Delights praises REVENGE

April 23rd, 2012 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Another excellent review arrived this morning from the Tomb of Dark Delights!

“This is a lavishly written, deeply involving novel that references world legend, religion and lore plotted at breakneck speed, hooking the reader in the jaws of the narrative from page one.” — The Tomb of Dark Delights

Upcoming April Events

April 17th, 2012 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Last night’s interview on Para Fusion Radio was an absolute blast. I can’t thank KJ McCormick from GHOST HUNTERS enough for inviting me to be on his show. The conversation was absolutely dynamic and I look forward to being on the show again in the future. I hope you all were able to catch the live show and if anyone out there was able to snag a recording of it by chance please let me know so I can share it with those who missed out.

April has been one incredibly busy month so far! I have been working feverishly on my new vampire novel THE LINEAGE, as well as the new vampire anthology HIGH STAKES which I am organizing for Evil Jester Press. HIGH STAKES is due out by Halloween and will contain a foreword by Dacre Stoker, the great grandnephew of Bram Stoker, an afterword by the legendary Father Sebastiaan, founder of Endless Night and master fangsmith, a poem by the Bram Stoker Award winning poet Linda Addison, and ten original stories by fabulous horror writers! Those two projects are in the forefront at the moment, but also on the burners is the sequel to REVENGE and the fourth book in the ETERNAL VIGILANCE vampire series. To say I’m a little busy with writing projects is the understatement of the century, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! And, speaking of “busy”, there are three events remaining in April that I would like to remind you all about…

Rue Morgue’s review of REVENGE

April 4th, 2012 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Just a few bits of good news regarding REVENGE

The April edition of Rue Morgue magazine hit stands yesterday. In it The Grim Reader column on page 49 reviewer Jessa Sobczuk called REVENGE a “clever and ambitious novel” and goes on to say, “Driven by an intricate and political plotline involving Marcus, his ex-girlfriend and a demonic love triangle, this novel is not a terrifying read but an inebriating descriptive journey into the nether regions of dark fantasy. Addictive as, er, hell.” We could not be happier to hear that REVENGE has the approval of Rue Morgue magazine! Thank you so much to Jessa Sobuczuk for the review!

And speaking of REVENGE… I am hosting a new giveaway on GoodReads for a copy of REVENGE! Be sure to stop by and enter! http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/23631-revenge

This weekend I will be signing copies at the Barnes & Noble in the Arboretum in Austin, Texas this Saturday, April 7, from 2 to 4pm.

The following weekend of April 14 I will be participating in the Houston Independent Book Festival! The Houston Indie Book Festival is sponsored and organized through a collaboration among NANO Fiction, Gulf Coast, and the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses. Now in its fifth official year, the Festival remains the only event of its kind in the Houston and Austin areas, featuring a variety of nationally-distributed literary journals and small-press books alongside local booksellers, book and magazine publishers, small presses, literary organizations, and writers. Magazines and books are for sale throughout the day, though the event is free and open to the public. The book festival will be held on Menil Lawn in the Montrose area of downtown Houston, Texas. More information can be found at http://indiebookfest.org/.

Another World Horror Convention comes to a close&#...

April 1st, 2012 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

It is that bittersweet time when another convention is coming to a close and the horror writers begin to disperse to their separate dark corners of the universe. It has been a wonderful weekend surrounded by such an inspiring wealth of imagination, inspiration, raw talent and genuine love and respect. We writers need these events more than any of us may realize in the between times of “everyday life” to restore our determination and commitment to our craft. I am constantly in awe of my peers and it brings tears to my eyes when I think of how blessed I am to know each and every one of them.

Last night the 2012 Bram Stoker Awards ceremony was held in the Radisson hotel in Salt Lake City as part of the World Horror Convention. Again, to see my friends recognized for their literary achievements was moving beyond words. Our esteemed president Rocky Wood made the long trip from Australia to participate and his presence brought a true sense of family honor to our organization. For the first time The Horror Writers Association presented the “Vampire Novel of the Century” award to Richard Matheson for his groundbreaking novel I Am Legend. Richard was unable to attend, but video taped his acceptance speech, which was played during the ceremony, a truly momentous experience. The rest of the award recipients are viewable via the link below.

If you missed the live stream of the ceremony it will remain available on UStream via http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bramstokerawards2012 for the next 24 hours. After that it will be posted to the Horror Writers Association YouTube channel.

In spite of the rather chaotic scheduling issues, the 2012 World Horror Convention was a delightful success in all respects. Congratulations to my friend Michael Marano on scoring not one, but four publishing contracts with Chi Zine! I personally was asked to be a presenter and host of the Salt Lake City Salty Horror film convention in November. In addition, just this morning, I was approached by Evil Jester Press about putting together a new vampire anthology for 2013! This is something I have long wanted to do so I am very excited!

Thank you to the organizers of the World Horror Convention for having me participate this year and to the Horror Writers Association for being such a rock of strength in the writing world. Until next time!
