Psycho bat girl’s personal update…
January 8th, 2009 by admin received No Comments »Good afternoon my dark lovelies!
I wanted to take a quick minute for a personal update here on the Eternal Vigilance blog and fill you in on the latest developments in my world. 2009 appears to already be off to an amazing start and if this pace keeps up throughout the year, I have no doubt that it will continue to be spectacularly busy. This morning I awoke to the fantastic news that my new vampire short story “The Soul”, which I finished only this week, has been accepted for publication in a new anthology currently being organized by Christopher J. Dwyer. It was one of my goals this year to complete at least five new short stories and, hopefully, get at least three published. One down! Not too bad for eight days into the new year, I’d say. *knocks on wood out of superstition* I already have three more that are half completed so wish me luck in finishing those in the coming months. I think you will enjoy them all immensely when they are completed…
In the world of Eternal Vigilance things are progressing wonderfully, as well. The manuscript for the second installment, The Death of Illusions, is at the moment in the hands of my most talented editor, Fiona McGavin, over in Scotland where she is doing a final read-through before it’s back to Immanion Press for layout and printing at the end of the month! We have been working extremely hard for the past four months and I am very proud of this new novel. I hope you will find as much enjoyment in reading it as I did writing it. Right now we are still aiming for a late March release, but the 2009 book tour has already kicked off with the first event this coming Saturday!
January 10th — Barnes & Noble New Author Signing Event
2pm
Barnes & Noble Booksellers
10000 Research Blvd. (Arboretum)
Austin, TX 78759
tel: (512) 418-8985
I will be signing copies of Book One that afternoon; four other local new writers will also be in attendance and signing their work. Please stop by if you happen to be in the area and say “hello”!
I also began work last night on the first of several book trailers I will be creating over the next few months. The first will be using still images and text, but the next, I am hoping, will incorporate live action and a voice over performance to give it a much more dramatic effect. I am still getting used to working with iMovie and its many idiosyncrasies, but hopefully I will have the first trailer done by this weekend. Please look for it on my YouTube Channel, www.youtube.com/gsfaust. And, speaking of video channels, be sure to register with BlogTV and subscribe to my new live broadcast: www.blogtv.com/People/VampireFaust. After my dear friend Christine Rose got me hooked on this new media outlet over Christmas I have been slowly testing the waters with a couple of recorded ramblings. I still find it all a bit bizarre, sitting in my office staring into a little camera and talking to myself, but I suppose I will get used to it after a time. LOL! I plan on using the channel to do live updates on news about the book tour and my other projects. I also plan on doing several live readings from the first two books in the Eternal Vigilance series, as well as my two poetry collections, Before Icarus, After Achilles and Crossroads (due out in March)! These readings I will be recording so that the videos will be available both on BlogTV and on YouTube. ![]()
If you stopped by here earlier this week you noticed I have begun posting contributed work again! Wendy Darling’s vampire short story and LP Van Ness’s article on Lovecraftian portals were an excellent addition to the site and I can’t thank them enough! If you would like to have your work published here on the Eternal Vigilance website I am looking for pieces between 500 and 2000 words. They can be short stories in the horror or science fiction veins or industry entertainment news such as movie reviews, book reviews, interviews, or breaking headline news in the horror or science fiction worlds. Unfortunately no monetary payment can be provided at this time, but your work will be promoted on several websites and blogs with between 200 to 300 unique visitors reading it each day it is up on the site.
If you are a book reviewer for a magazine or have a blog dedicated to book reviews, horror or science fiction and would like to review the upcoming new installment of Eternal Vigilance please email me. I am putting together my 2009 list of review contacts and am always looking for new people to add!
Well, I suppose that is all for this afternoon. If you haven’t cast your votes yet, please consider nominating me for the “Best Local Writer” for the Rarest of Austin 2009 poll. You don’t have to be from Austin to vote. Just click on this link: http://rareaustin.com/v2/rarestvoting.php and scroll down to the bottom of the page to find “Best Local Writer”. Voting ends January 20th! If you are feeling extra generous this morning and feel that the Eternal Vigilance blog is worthy, please also take a minute to consider nominating me for a Texas Social Media Award! This award recognizes individuals who utilize the web to its fullest media potential by accessing everything from Twitter to BlogTV to personal blogs and MySpace (sounds like me!

Thank you to everyone for their continued support! I will have more news next week!
Bites & Kisses!!
