A cold and gray Monday…
December 15th, 2008 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »By noon today the temperature here in Austin had dropped from around seventy degrees to forty as an ominous cold front swept through the area causing ice to form on roof tops and sidewalks. This has been a very unusual December for us central Texans; we are used to freak ice storms in late January or February but almost never in mid-December. Could this be an omen, a portent? My horoscope swears that 2009 is going to be a landmark career year; perhaps this is the last of the strangeness that has plagued 2008 making its final statement to the world? Perhaps. Whatever it is, this chilly Monday has also brought with it several exciting developments which I would like to now share with you…
First off, there is a new interview with yours truly up on the awesome Pretty Scary website! Pretty Scary is a horror site dedicated primarily to the promotion of women in the industry. Please take a moment to check it out (click here). Thank you, Alan, for conducting the interview. ![]()
I received two very special packages today in the mail. The first was from Sue of Lestat’s Dark Gift Shop & the Vampire Lestat Fan Club in New Orleans. I have been working with Sue on the development of a line of fragrances based on Eternal Vigilance, much like the ones she developed for Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Today the first round of test scents arrived, three vials to be exact. The first three colognes will be dedicated to Tynan, Phelan and Seafra. I have not yet sat down to truly analyze them and make my notes for Sue, but they smell divine even in their vials sitting here on my desk, so I have great hopes that they will be exquisite once I open them…
Also in the mail was a package from Marc over at Seraphemera Books. I am working with Marc on the publication of my new collection of poems entitled Crossroads. The first run will be a limited edition, signed and numbered batch of 100, all hand constructed with beautiful papers and a built-in black silk book mark. Today the prototype sample arrived for me to inspect and to finalize the color selection of the outside dust jacket, which we will be silk screening. I am thrilled with the prototype and hope you all will be as well. It’s truly a beautiful construction and lends a refined, artistic elegance to the collection which might have been lost with merely another standard digital printing. Divine…
Just a short time ago an email from my editor over in Scotland arrived bearing the new round of revisions to EV2. Her note accompanying the manuscript says that there are just a few small things left before we do the final read so I am keeping my fingers crossed as I download it and begin work on it tonight. If all goes well, we just might have this thing wrapped up by the end of January which means we will be right on schedule for a February publishing and a March release. Everyone send good energy this way and light a candle to whatever god or goddess of your choosing asking for this project to be expedited! ![]()
