Such a profound moment in time…

I have never, in my lifetime, been so proud of being an American as I am tonight. Tonight, America elected their first African American Democrat president, Barack Obama. After running out of the house screaming with my neighbors in celebration we returned to the TV to watch Obama’s speech. It was at that time that I was reduced to tears. I know it is preliminary, but I feel as if a huge burden has been lifted from my shoulders, as if I can once again perhaps begin to restore my hope in the future. For all too long we, the American people, have been stifled by fear, fear of life, fear of the economy, fear of war, fear of our very own government…So much fear… But tonight, tonight we witnessed the first step towards change and a renewed sense that perhaps we really do have a voice in this country and perhaps we really do have the ability to make the vast changes we know this country needs and we know this People is capable of…
