IOHP Newsletter Guidelines (Updated 4-14-2008)
The Bloodied Quill is evolving. We are moving toward a more multi-media angle to reflect the variety of our membership.
The Bloodied Quill is a quarterly PDF publication for the members of the International Order of Horror Professionals, a group of professionals and fans from a wide variety of horror and dark-themed careers. From musicians to writers and movie makers, IOHP is a networking group for the genre, not just one part of it.

Articles/Columns
We are actively seeking articles and columns related to the horror genre in all its aspects. Articles on writing, movie making, music, web pages, publishing and even make up how tos are all welcome. If you are unsure feel free to send a short (200 words) pitch to test the waters.
News, Happenings and Member Success
Do you have a bit of news, a release announcement, or an event to tell us about? Send your news tips, release and events announcements in 50-100 words to thebloodiedquill@gmail.com.
Reviews
We are looking for reviews of books, movies (theater releases, DVDs and classics), music and horror or dark fantasy games. Reviews should be 200 to 500 words, should not be attacks on the authors, actors, musicians or directors and should contain more than “I liked/didn’t like this…”. We reserve the right to refuse reviews based on content, space restriction or if we have already accepted a review on said book or movie. Please use the following format and send your reviews in the body of the email to thebloodiedquill@gmail.com. Reviews are not the place for self promotion and reviews that reek of false positive, or false negative, will be refused.

Please query all interviews.
Poetry and Fiction
Fiction should be under 5k and should be a reprint. We cannot pay at this time, so we refuse to take first rights to a story. The same goes for poetry, which should not be of an epic length. Fiction and poetry should be horror or dark fantasy themed. While we understand that violence and gore are part of horror we will refuse stories that are nothing but violence and gore. Likewise we will decline stories that are nothing but hate, prejudice or sexism and we have no desire to read about molestation. Creative works should also be error free and show an understanding of grammar, plotting and story structure.
Please send poetry and fiction to thebloodiedquill@gmail.com in the body of the email. Attachments will be deleted unread.
