Batty Business in the Bat Cave…

June 28th, 2012 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

A few quick updates for this blazing hot afternoon in Texas where I am currently hiding in my bat cave to escape the scorching sun. I realize I have not been posting here on my site as frequently as in times past. That is due to the fact that I currently have about five projects that I am working on that are all quite demanding in their timelines. That is a good thing, though! This year is proving to be very exciting and it is not my style to pass up an opportunity. So, instead, I sleep less and have to pry myself away from the almighty social media altar for time. But, fear not my darklings! You can always get your fix of me on Twitter (@Gabrielle_Faust). ;)

Book updates are first on the agenda. At the moment my publisher, Barking Rain Press, is in love with what I’ve written thus far on ETERNAL VIGILANCE 4: MEDITATIONS ON DARKNESS. As soon as I have a couple of these other deadlines finished I will be returning to work on that manuscript. This will probably be towards the end of the summer with my goal being a completion date of mid-2013. I know it’s been a while since BOUND IN BLOOD was released and I thank you for your patience. If only I could clone myself I would be able to write faster. ;) The other manuscript I have been working on is THE LINEAGE, a rather hardcore horror vampire novel. I am currently 100 pages into this novel and have handed the first 7 chapters off to Sheri to read while I attend to a few other projects that are due this month. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she loves it equally. But that will also make it hard to decide which book to finish first. Ah, the dilemma! Another book I have started work on is the auto/biography of Father Sebastiaan, the founder of Sabertooth Fangs, Endless Night and the modern vampire culture as we know it today. I placed the back-slash in the auto/biography because I will be the author but it will be told much in the style of Anne Rice’s THE VAMPIRE LESTAT where it will be in the first person perspective coming from Father Sebastiaan telling the tale of the beginnings of Sabertooth and Endless Night up until the present day. I am deeply honored to be working on this project and very excited to delve deeper into his history. Trust me, it is going to be one deliciously scandalous read!

For several years I have been working to help promote the wonderful organization SCARE for a CURE which creates a haunted house experience each year in order to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Central Texas. This year, however, Jarrett Crippen, the co-founder of the organization has asked me to become more integrally involved in the development of the script itself for this year’s haunt! I was quite moved by the invitation. We have begun work and the process is fascinating. I’ve always wanted to work more in screenwriting/script writing and this is the perfect opportunity. Thank you, Jarrett and SCARE for a CURE!

If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet for the 2012 New Orleans Vampire Ball you should dfinitely not hesitate! The new site is up and running and we are expecting even more people than ever before! http://www.endlessnight.com/events/neworleansvampireball2012/ Also, if you are wanting Maven or Father Sebastiaan to create a pair of fangs for you while you are in NOLA now is the time to set up an appointment with them. Time slots are limited so be first on the list! :)

Also taking place in New Orleans is A Midsummer Nightmare, which you’ve heard me mention before. It will be running July 12-15, which is right around the corner. Tickets are available at http://www.showclix.com/event/226302. Maven Lore and Lord Chaz will be joining me on my panel entitled “Re-fanging the Vampire” which will be on Saturday at 5pm. The other panelists, as well as attendees, will be in for quite the rowdy treat when Maven, Lord Chaz and I get to bantering back and forth! Also, if you plan on attending my presentation “Fangs to Franchise” please let me know so that I have enough packets printed for everyone to take with them. A full schedule of events for the entire convention is available here: http://nolamidsummernightmare.com/nola_summer2012

Last but not least, I have been invited to be a Guest Author at this year’s Monster-Con in San Antonio, October 13 & 14. I am honored and have accepted. I will have a table in Author’s Row, will be also presenting my “Fangs to Franchise” presentation at some point and will be participating in at least one or more panels. Thank you to Monster-Con for the invitation. You can find out more at http://monster-con.com/

Well, I believe that’s all for the moment. Now, back to bat business in the bat cave…whatever that means. ;)
