Updates from the bat cave…

May 29th, 2012 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Summer is upon us down here in the Lone Star State which makes the bat cave all the more precious to the likes of this vampire. I keep asking myself why I live in a state where it reaches the 100′s by the end of May? Yet, here I am. Must be something in the water… But I digress. I have only a few quick updates as I am in the trenches, so to speak, project-wise. So very many irons in the fire that I am prone to lose track of all of them. The one blazing the brightest, however, are the following: Work on my new vampire novel The Lineage is coming along nicely. I am quite excited about this twisted little version of the great Faustian mythos and hope you will be, as well. I always strive to write stories I have never heard before, ones that I myself would remark at the originality. I feel confident that this is one of those tales and for those who like true horror, there are vats of blood in this one enough to please the greatest gore fan. I’m hoping to have the first draft finished in a couple of months and in the hands of my publisher, who is eager to see it, by the end of the summer. She is also eager to see me complete the fourth installment of the Eternal Vigilance vampire series, which I began last year, but was sidetracked by the publication process of Revenge and my preoccupation with The Lineage.

Progress on the High Stakes vampire anthology is coming along swimmingly, as well. I have an impressive list of authors who are planning on submitting stories in August and I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation! If you haven’t checked out the website, it is up and running at http://www.highstakesvampires.com and be sure to “like” the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/HighStakesVampires to keep up with the latest developments. As I have mentioned before I am working with the Popcorn Horror application developers to create a film competition in conjunction to the anthology. We are hoping to have the website for this competition live in mid-July. Stay tuned for details! ;)

I will be presenting a lecture at the Midsummer Nightmare festival, presented by the Vampire Film Festival, in New Orleans at the beginning of July.

“From Fangs to Franchise” (lecture) — The evolution of the modern vampire from the dreaded demons of ancient myth to today’s seductive playboy. Through an in-depth look at the roots of the vampire mythos and its various imaginings over the centuries we will explore the sociological and philosophical trends that have led us to the more amiable modern interpretation of a creature as lifemate material.

If you are able to attend please drop in for the discussion! Everyone who attends my lecture will get a free e-book of my latest novel Revenge!

If you’re a vampire fan please join the new Vampire Almanac page on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/VampireAlmanac and follow us on Twitter @VampireAlmanac! Father Sebastiaan, Victor Magnus and I are hard at work developing content for the new site which we hope will be launched close to Endless Night in October. This is a massive undertaking and we need your support to ensure the success of our new vampire resource.

Lastly, but certainly not least, if you are a music producer I looking to do a possible trade. Upon the request of my audiences it is time for me to finally produce the album I have been talking about for so long. In exchange for studio production time I can offer promotion through my Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and personal website. These combined resources reach over 30,000 people on a daily basis (not including retweets, etc.)
