Battle for Dracula’s castle wages on!

August 31st, 2008 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Vlad's Castle

In the recent edition of Bite Me Magazine, the UK publication dedicated to all things undead, I noticed an interesting little sidebar discussing the ongoing battle over the ownership of the actual castle that once belonged to Vlad Tepes. The Bran Castle, or Dracula castle as it is known in Transylvania, was returned to the Archduke Dominic of Austria, Prince of Tuscany, in 2006 after it was held for 50 years by Romania’s communist regime. When the Archduke discovered the castle to be uninhabitable he decided to try to sell it back to the Romanian government. The offer was declined and since then the Archduke has been looking for other buyers. Now the Romanian government is attempting to seize the landmark once again, claiming that the turnover of the property to the Archduke was illegal due to “procedural errors”. As it stands, the property is still on the market so if you have a measly $80 million or so lying around to buy Dracula’s Castle you might want to give Dominic a call! ;)

Apparently…there has also been “vampire dog” sightings in Texas recently. *sigh* Why is it always my state that has the strange cattle-hunting supernatural creatures. ;) I will be looking into this a bit more so stay tuned for what I unearth…
