Austin Fashion Week download
August 23rd, 2010 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »I can say I survived another year of Austin Fashion Week in Austin, Texas! I spent the past seven days trotting about the town flitting from one packed fashion show to the next, from over the top Bollywood hairstyling productions at Jose Luis Salon, winner of the “Best Salon” this year at the Austin Fashion Awards, to intimate avante garde affairs featuring Project Runway designer Louise Black. Rebecca Guenther, Julian Humphries, Hattie Watson, Sabrina Lofti and I also managed to attend a seductively South-Austin naked sushi event at Teddys for Bettys lingerie store! Through vats of free chardonnay and Tito’s Vodka drunk dangerously in the 110 degree Texas heat, we bravely marched in our chic new outfits (though by the end of some events they were nearly transparent from sweat) and all in the name of fashion! Death by fashion might very well have been the case, but we persevered beginning with the Kick Off Party at GSD&M‘s Idea City where we watched Tiffany perform Blondie’s songs *insert puzzled look here* to the final After Party within the 33rd floor of the Frost Tower, or as I like to call it “Gotham City” because it look as if Bruce Wayne should have his offices there. Who knows, perhaps Bruce Wayne is really the true owner of the PGI headquarters where the party was thrown for it was a truly spectacular party where the who’s-who of Austin Fashion, music and the social elite clustered for one final hurrah! At midnight, it was still not time for us to retire however. Filled with one last burst of enthusiastic energy, a large group of us, also including Mad Maxx jewelry designer Tyler Reed Cochran, artist extraordinare David de Lara and motocross punkrock photographer Jeremiah Newton, infiltrated the UNTERVELT event at Prague Night Club where we continued our celebratory dancing until the wee hours of dawn! There we were joined by UNTERVELT producers Sky of Hipnautica, their glorious dark gypsy team and Patrick Labay of Artstrada Magazine. A truly memorable and beautiful week I will not soon forget. Thank you to the Austin Fashion Week producers, Launch 787, for being such a driving force in bringing a true fashion week to the capital city! I am looking forward to next year!
