Friday’s Mean Good News!

May 9th, 2008 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Well, this week has wrapped up in an excellent way! Earlier today I dropped by Dragon’s Lair Comics, one of the most well-known comics shops in Austin and my personal haunt for, oh, the past 18 years, and met with the manager about a possible Eternal Vigilance signing in June. He was very enthusiastic about the idea and is interested in setting me up, possibly, on June 21st (mark your calendars!!). I hopefully will have a confirmation of that next week *crosses fingers*. I left a couple of copies with the staff to review for their website and left the store with a rush of adrenaline. Not only am I truly loyal to the store having pretty much grown up, and spent half of my lifetime income, there, but I was overjoyed at the pure and honest pride they take in promoting independent artists such as myself. If you’re ever in Austin please check out the store!

I also noticed that the final version of the cover of the June edition of Doorways Magazine was posted the other day on editor Brian Yount’s MySpace blog, the one with the background design (text was done by Brian) by yours truly, as well as an article I wrote about the Servant Girl Annihilator! This issue is devoted to the most devoutly worshiped Mr. Clive Barker and will feature a reprint of his story Midnight Meat Train! New artwork from a variety of artists will also accompany the story which was originally published in Volume One of The Books Of Blood. A teaser of this work has been posted over on Clive Barker’s website! Be sure to pick up a copy when it hits bookstores and newstands next month! It will also be available for purchase through the Doorways Magazine website (http://www.doorwayspublications.com/).

Also, be sure to visit the NexGen Pulp Magazine website and pick up the June/July issue (out next) month if you’re interested in reading a special interview with, you named it, ME (because it’s all about me, don’t you know ;) …)! This is a crazy cool new independent pulp magazine that just got started this past year. And currently they are running a $2 Special on all past issues! Support independent arts!

Other good news… The word count on the second installment of Eternal Vigilance reached 80,000 words this week! Very close, very close! Of course the second novel is going to be quite a bit longer than the first, but I still feel confident that the first draft of the manuscript will be done by the end of the summer! Gods willing and java bean providing, of course.

Well, I suppose that’s about it for now. Not a bad way to wind up the week, if you ask me! :)

Bites & Kisses,

Gabrielle
