An update from the bat cave…

October 3rd, 2009 by Gabrielle Faust received No Comments »

Hello my Darklings!

It has been a very long time since I last wrote a personal update from the bat cave. Life has been extremely chaotic, in a good way of course, which has left me with limited time to go into great detail on the many projects and events I have been working on for the past few months. However, due to your overwhelming requests, I have decided this rainy, chilly morning is the perfect time to sit down and try to touch upon as many of the items in my list as possible.

If you’re on Facebook or Twitter then you were probably able to keep up with my daily deluge of postings while I was in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago for the first annual KillerCon convention. I would like to say thank you, again, to the brilliant organizers of the event, Wrath James and Monica O’Rourke, who managed to put on an absolutely stellar inaugural event! Everyone I spoke to over the duration of the weekend spoke nothing but praise for the event and its coordinators. Not only was it a wonderful time (and my first time in Vegas, might I add), but it was also highly lucrative as I sold out of all of the books I brought with me! I am most definitely planning on returning next year. CLICK HERE for photos of from the convention.

While I was at KillerCon I made several fabulous connections including one with a spectacularly talented illustrator who *crosses fingers* is gung-ho on signing on to work on the graphic novel adaptation of the Eternal Vigilance vampire series! His work is absolutely mind-blowing and I have no doubt that it will blend perfectly with the storyline! My publisher, Immanion Press, is absolutely thrilled with the news and excited to get the project started. Once contracts are reviewed and signed I will be releasing an official press release. I spoke to said illustrator on Friday and he said he has already begun several character sketches, which I will be posting along with the press release, hopefully in the next couple of weeks!

Also, speaking of various adaptations of the Eternal Vigilance series, there has been a new development in the movie department! While I am still awaiting the official press release from his personal PR people, I am secure in announcing the news that award-winning indie director Anthony Brownrigg (Red Victoria, Freeborn) is now attached to the project! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about his agreement to take on the project! I have had a profound respect for his work for several years and love his passion and zealous enthusiasm for filmmaking. I will be driving up to Dallas next weekend to kick off our initial brainstorming session and begin formulating our plans of attack for the first script. Also now attached to the project is the legendary stunt guru/screenwriter/producer Gary Kent. Kent has signed on as the Stunt Coordinator for the film! This is the beginning of one spectacular team! I know in my heart and soul that the Eternal Vigilance movie will be absolutely amazing!

In case you are wondering, yes I am still working on the third installment in the EV series, entitled Blood Kin. Progress thus far has been very good, but unfortunately my hectic schedule of traveling has bumped back my deadline a bit. I am still aiming to have the first draft completed by the end of the year *crosses fingers* so you can plan for the book’s release in 2010. My deepest gratitude for the continued encouragement from my loyal fans. Your enthusiasm and love drives me to craft yet another tale of Tynan and his quest to save the world from the Tyst Empire and the vampiric god, the Vicinus!

In case you missed them, a couple of new reviews of the previous two installments of the series were posted recently. Thank you to Taliesin Meets the Vampire and Ethan Nahate for the wonderful commentary! Here are links:

I would also like to thank SNM Horror Magazine for posting a new interview with yours truly (CLICK HERE) and to Schatten Tänzer of Vampire Wear for promoting me on his MySpace blog (CLICK HERE) as part of his Nyghtmarish Promotion for October! Also up now is a new interview with yours truly conducted by Christine Rose on Pop Syndicate (CLICK HERE). October is shaping up to be a fabulous PR month for this little bat girl! :)

Now I would like to turn my attention in this post to a few very important upcoming events which I would LOVE for you all to participate in if possible. For the past couple of months I have been assisting the Austin, Texas charity haunted house organization SCARE for a CURE in the promotion of their fundraising efforts for the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Central, Texas. The official haunted house, Blood Ritual, opens on October 21st, running through October 31st. However, there are several events which are happening the next couple of weeks that will also serve as ways for the community to become involved, regardless of whether or not the haunted house is their style. The first such event is occurring next Thursday, October 8th in Downtown Austin, Texas. Along with Haunted Texas Ghost Tours, SCARE will be hosting a tour of haunted Austin/vampire pub crawl beginning at 7:30pm with an after party at Casino el Camino at 6th & Red River (CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS). I will be one of the hosts for the ghost tour and will also be in attendance at the party later on that night. Vampire costumes are highly encouraged and you know I will be there in my full goth regalia, as is only befitting! ;)

Also coming up is the very first BLOOD OF THE BEAN group horror reading at Kick Butt Coffee on October 17th from 2 to 7pm. Myself and fellow authors Steven E. Wedel, Lee Thomas, Byron Starr, Brian Moreland, Ethan Nahte, Kenneth M. Hoover and Joe McKinney will take the stage to read an assortment of work from short stories to excerpts from their published novels. All of the authors will also be on hand throughout the afternoon to sell and sign copies of their work. In addition, SCARE for a CURE, the Austin, Texas charity haunted house event, is said to be on hand with a few willing volunteers passing out information about Blood Ritual and how you can purchase tickets or volunteer at the event. For more details and the official event poster CLICK HERE.

If you are in New Orleans I hope to see you at one, or all, of the above events! You really shouldn’t miss this divine opportunity to party with the vampires! I was notified on Friday that the BBC will be interviewing me while I am there for a documentary they are doing on vampires, an extraordinary honor that I am still wrapping my mind around. As my beloved friend Lord J said to me “When the BBC comes knocking, you know you’re on to something!” I must admit, I think he’s right! ;)

Well, I think that is all for now, and that is quite enough. I will post more details on all of the above developments/events/etc. as I have them here on the Eternal Vigilance website. I recently accepted a position as the new Online Marketing Manager for The Chainsaw Mafia and will have information my forthcoming responsibilities for that particular website soon. Thank you, again, for all of your continued support!!

Bites & Kisses,
Gabrielle S. Faust
