Director Margaret Brown’s haunting and lyrical film examines the life and art of the ultimate songwriter’s songwriter, Townes Van Zandt, who had a profound impact on generations of musicians from Bob Dylan to Nora Jones. Her film combines interviews with friends and family with never seen footage of Townes Van Zandt, from rare performance and interview footage to intimate portraits shot in Van Zandt’s home throughout the years.
Austin Bat Cave (ABC) is a nonprofit organization that provides children and teenagers (ages 6-18) with opportunities to develop their creative and expository writing skills. We connect a diverse population of young learners with a dynamic community of adult volunteers in Austin. All of our programs are free. This screening/benefit will raise funds for Austin Bat Cave’s expanded fall programming.
