The Lost Boys: The Tribe
September 24th, 2007 by Gabrielle Faust received 2 Comments »1987… Oliver North Jr. admitted to his involvement in the Iran-Contra operations, Prozac was released officially for use in US, Andy Warhol passed away, but above all else Hollywood released one of the defining campy brat-pack eighties movie The Lost Boys. Amidst the hairspray, Flash-Dance cut sweatshirts and neon jelly shoes emerged the vampire cult film by director Joel Schumacher which quickly became an international hit and, to this day, is instantly recognizable. Now, twenty years later, it has been confirmed that Dusk Till Dawn 3 director P.J Pesce has signed on to direct Warner Bros.’ direct-to-DVD sequel The Lost Boys: The Tribe.
SYNOPSIS:
This sequel takes us to the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals’ way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s lifeline before his sister’s transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Feldman).

The cast line-up currently lists Tad Hilgenbrink, Autumn Reeser, Angus Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Moneca Delain, Tom Savini, Kyle Cassie, Shaun Sipos and Merwin Mondesir (Cory Haim is reported to not be involved in this project and apparently fur is flying all over the web between these two 80′s child stars…). Now, I’m a firm believer in the idea of squashing unnecessary sequels when the original product was a gem and the fact that this is a direct-to-DVD sequel I think speaks loudly enough itself for this venture not being able to live up to the original. However, for the pure sake of curiosity alone, I am intrigued by the idea of a second attempt at The Lost Boys and will most likely rent it when it comes out (which I’m sure is what Warner Bros. is counting on for revenue sales…curiosity can be very profitable). If nothing else, it will be a good laugh.
